Just finished up the summer season around here. Super dry weather, constant wind, very little water, and not very many fish. You hear this, you hear that, but when you are there, you know what is happening. Nothin`!
Crabbing in all of the bays is really good. Fishing for Chinooks is pathetic. Worst we have ever seen. We pulled the plug, and are getting everything cleaned up. A long process for sure. Then start getting ready for the fall, bait, and everything else in between. Yard work, tend the garden and plants, canning, and of course, more crabbing, so my mother remains calm.
Kind of fun the other day. Took some old friends out, and ran the gear. The little boy was wound tight, so he ran around on the sand, got good and wet, and finally calmed down near the end of the day. We have no doubt that he slept well on the way home…
Sara is now in charge…Have a good summer!
“Got My Shovel”
Had a fun day yesterday, with some long time friends. Only caught one fish, but a really nice one. Worked our butts off during the morning rain, with really high hopes. Weather broke off about mid day, and it became just an adventure and conversation. The usual banter as always.
Through the afternoon, the tough ass Marine, got a little schooling on boats. It was fun! How to row a drift boat, by us. He started to figure it out, after a light breeze, and various encounters with gravel bars. Now, they know what I mean when I tell them to please keep the boat level, after I pee`d, grabbed cookies or cold pizza. Oh, need some coffee too. Not as easy as it appears, now is it?
Always an adventure, and loved showing some new stuff to people. Pulling them out of their comfort zone. He only trembled a little bit…
Going to get hot. Unpleasant for us. Looking forward to the weekend, and cool coastal evenings, and good food.
Yes, we have been quiet. Although, we have been busy. We have been crabbing, fishing, and all kinds of other odds and ends. Yard looks really good, and for the most part, the weather has been pleasant. Winter wood is nearly done. Shed is full, and we have a couple more permit loads to get home for extra.
Since everyone seems to have fallen off the planet, we are making an adjustment. Another couple of weeks here at home fishing, then off to somewhere else we go. It will be a ton of work, as always, but a needed break from whatever is going on here. Fall bookings are looking good, and we are looking forward to it. So, with all of the hustle and bustle, that is why we are remaining under the radar…
For now, have a good summer, and we will visit from time to time. Sara is now in charge of the online stuff, social media, website, and trip bookings…
Soon! Very Soon!
